Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh flew down to Bangaluru last month to spend some time with family right before the lockdown started. While they have been staying at home during these tough times, news of Prakash Padukone, International Badminton player and Deepika’s father was reported this morning.

Following this, news of his wife, Ujjala and younger daughter, Anisha contracting the virus also made it to the headlines and now, we find out that Deepika too has caught the virus. A source close to the family revealed that Deepika’s parents had started showing symptoms about ten days ago and had tested positive last week. He further shared that her father is better and said, "He is okay now. All his parameters are fine, his wife and daughter are at home and he too will be hopefully discharged in 2-3 days.”

The entire family is currently home-quarantined in Bangaluru. We still do not know if Ranveer Singh has also been exposed to the virus, but we hope he is healthy and hearty and wish the Padukone family a speedy recovery.

Former World No. 1, Indian badminton player Prakash Padukone has tested positive for COVID-19. Padukone is the father of noted actress Deepika Padukone. According to media reports, the 65-year-old is recovering from the novel coronavirus and an infection at a hospital in Bengaluru and is most probably going to be discharged this week.

"Around 10 days back, Prakash, his wife (Ujjala) and second daughter (Anisha), they developed symptoms and got themselves tested and the results came out to be positive," Vimal Kumar, a close friend of the family and the director at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy (PPBA), told PTI. "They got themselves isolated but after a week Prakash's fever didn't come down, so last Saturday, he was admitted to a hospital here in Bengaluru. He is okay now. All his parameters are fine, his wife and daughter are at home and he too will be hopefully discharged in 2-3 days," he added.

Deepika Padukone has been an active advocate for mental health and has been vocal of how important it is to keep a check on oneself, especially in these trying times that can take a toll on anyone. She’s shared her own story of how she battled with depression to come out victorious and stronger and urges everyone to be cautious of their wellbeing as well.

Sharing a series of verified helpline numbers, Deepika took to social media to spread the word that one must maintain a balance and keep a check on their emotional well-being as they fight the pandemic’s second wave. She wrote, “As millions of us (me and my family included) strive to stay afloat, let us not forget that our emotional well-being in this current crisis, is equally important!Remember, You Are Not Alone. We are in this together. And most importantly, there is HOPE!”

Like we mentioned earlier, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh began dating on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela. With the film, we also got the very first glimpse of their sizzling hot chemistry. Besides Ram Leela being a smashing success at the box-office, the audience were mesmerised by how lovely the two of them looked on screen together.

Before the release of the film, Ranveer Singh in an interview with the press revealed that he had contracted ‘Loveria’ which further added fuel to the fire. Later on, when Deepika was asked about the ‘Loveria’ comment, she just praised her co-star and skilfully dodged the question. She said, “What I admire about him is that he is so unapologetic about the way he is. Whether it is the way he dresses or the way he carries himself or the way he speaks and I think that’s what makes him so pleasantly different from everyone else. I think it’s amazing that there is so much speculation about this alleged romance between the two of us. It’s great as long as the film, it works for the film. I think it’s also because from the time we have started working, yes, we did hang out. We do hang out. We do go out and so much is always said about two people just hanging out. But it’s fine. I appreciate that people see this chemistry between the two of us and eventually I think what is the most important, is that it translates onscreen and we have that going for us. I think that’s the most important thing.”

After Ram Leela, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone featured together in the next two films of Sanjay Leela Bhansali as well i.e Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat. Even though the two didn’t share any screen space in Padmaavat, the audience were once again taken aback by their chemistry in Bajirao Mastani. This special pair has a 100 % success record at the box-office and we fully expect them to continue on the same track in the future as well.

While the two were extremely tight lipped about relationship to the world, they didn’t shy back from expressing their affection towards each other on social media. They are constantly seen leaving mushy and sometimes outright hilarious comments on each other’s accounts. Here are a few examples which prove just how adorable these two actually are.

Well, this might not come as a surprise to many but Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone don’t belong to a filmy families. So, leading a ‘normal’ lifestyle before entering the world of cinema sure will help them have a similar perspective about many things in life. In fact, in an interview with a leading daily, Deepika Padukone even stated that she considers Ranveer’s family to be her family in Mumbai. Now how adorable is that?
